Breitling Datora Chronograph Ref. 2031 in Stainless Steel
Case: stainless steel, polished and brushed, screw back, two round chronograph buttons in the band, black bezel with Arabic numerals - outer row for hour indication and inner row for minutes. Case is very crisp with strong definition and very light scratches.
Dial: silvered dial, applied baton numerals with luminous tips, bright red hands and central chronograph hand, outer tachometer scale, central black band that includes two subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 45 minute register, date window at 6 O'clock. Dial has minimal patinal.
Movement: Valjoux 7734, a 17 jewels cam controlled chronograph lever movement. movement running strong within COSC

The Breitling Datora is a model with a long production history that was available in a wide range of designs and complications. The Datora models of the 1940’s were among the most elegant complicated wristwatches being produced at the time - available as a triple date chronograph or chronograph with moon phase, often oversized (for that time), and blended the line between sport and dress.
Starting in the 1960’s, Breitling began releasing a number of new chronograph models and expanding on the range of current models with a variety of dial designs. At this time, the Datora line took on a more sporty look and feel with large steel cases and more striking and playful dial colors, including two subdials in an elliptic black "surfboard" background . Some references were the typical circular case shape, while others were the bullhead or squared shape. Unlike most chronographs, the Datora featured a 45-minute register, instead of the more common 30-minute register.
The Datora line, while one of Breitling’s lesser-known models, nevertheless has a wide range of appeal for its early appearance as a complicated dress watch and its later appearance as a sporty chronograph with a reputable Valjoux movement.
