More about Rolex:

In 1954 Rolex introduced the "Veriflat" model. A thin (at 9mm) dress watch in 18k yellow gold, the Veriflat contains the caliber 1000 movement. This movement, with 18 jewels, was the first movement that Rolex manufactured entirely from scratch. The watch was sold  with either  a chronometer grade and precision movement. The former was tested and usually delivered with a certificate. Despite this innovation, the Veriflat (and its sister model the Verislim) did not sell well and was only released in limited quantities. Its rarity cannot be exaggerated. Nevertheless, with its elegant lines and crisp, uncluttered dial (reminiscent of the Rolex Cellini or the Patek Philippe Calatrava), it remains a highly sought-after addition to any vintage collection.

The above watch comes from the original owner family, a former airline pilot.  The watch was rarely worn and is in excellent condition.
