More about Tudor:

Hans Wilsdorf launched the Tudor brand in 1946, with the aim to sell watches at "a more modest price" than Rolex, but without sacrificing the "standards of dependability" that consumers had come to expect from Rolex. 1952 saw the introduction of the Tudor Oyster Prince, with a famous advertising campaign featuring working men wearing Tudors in strenuous conditions. That same year, thirty Oyster Princes accompanied a British scientific expedition to Greenland.

The Oyster Prince series morphed into many different models, including the famed Tudor Submariner and the Oysterdate Chronograph or "Monte Carlo" (ref. 7159). The present watch is an example of the Tudor Prince Oysterdate in an unusually-large 38mm case, giving it the nickname "Jumbo." For a collector who wants the sturdy dependability of a Tudor with a vintage flair, this watch is ideal.
