Breitling Genève, Ref. 765. AOPA Chronograph Made in the 1960s. Fine, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, tachometer and registers
Case: Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back, stepped bezel, lapidated lugs.
Dial: Bicolor black and silver with luminous Arabic numerals, with AOPA logo at center, outer 1/5th seconds track and tachometer graduation to 1000 UPH, subsidiary sunk guilloche dials for the seconds, the 30-minute and the 12-hour registers. Luminous white baton hands.
Movement: Cal. 178, copper-colored, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self compensating flat balance spring.

The Breitling 765 was produced for about two years between 1964 and 1966 as part of the Premier line. This was the last watch to be made within the Premier line. In Breitling Lexicon, Premiers were the top of the line and predated the famous navigational instruments, such as the Chronomat and Navitimer, by debuting in the late 1930s. However by the mid 1960's Breitling was producing very technical watches such as the Navitimer Cosmonaute, the 806 and the Top time, the cost of producing the silver Ref. 765, with the same Venus 178 movement was too high and the brand discontinued the line.
The AOPA was marketed to leisure pilots as a great all around watch with a very legible dial. This example is well preserved and would be a great addition to any Breitling collection.
