More about Panerai:

Giovanni Panerai founded Officine Panerai in Florence 1860. By his grandson Guido's tenure, Panerai specialized in diving instruments and watches for the frogmen of the Italian Marina Militare. However, unable to meet increasingly-strenuous naval specifications, Officine Panerai began to release watches to the civilian market in the 1990s; enter Sly Stallone, whose affinity for the brand brought Officine Panerai to international attention.

Richemont acquired Officine Panerai in 1997. Shortly thereafter, Panerai launched the Luminor PAM 2A and 2B series in limited numbers of 1000 to 1500 pieces. These watches comprise the Luminor base models. These watches, notable for the T Swiss T on the dial, feature tritium numerals and indices on the dial, and are thus highly collectible.
