Case: Three-body, polished and brushed, screw-down case back and crown, engine- turned bezel, crystal with cyclops lens.
Dial: Silvered with applied steel baton indexes and luminous dots, outer minute/seconds divisions, aperture for the date. Luminous steel baton hands.
Movement: Cal.1570, rhodium-plated, 26 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating free-sprung over-coiled balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, hack mechanism.

In 1945, the Geneva watch manufacturer, just in time for its 40th anniversary, launched the Oyster Perpetual Datejust. As simple as it can be, the quick changing date is a milestone in the development of watches. Rolex integrated a new, simple but important feature: a display of the date. Under the reference 4467, the Rolex Datejust was born. And it was close to the actual edition: a 3-hand gold watch with a date aperture at 3 o’clock that changed automatically at midnight. Thanks to an intermediate gears and a spring mechanism, the date disc was able to make an instant jump at midnight. The "date" was "just", all the time. The watch was a spontaneous success – the automatic winding, the high accuracy and date display made the Oyster Datejust an excellent and practical watch. The high water resistance was achieved with a screwed caseback.
In 1957, the design of the Datejust changed. Due to its new Calibre 1065 and the introduction of the magnifier glass. Finally, in 1965, the caliber changed one more time with the introduction of the very famous Calibre 1570.
Our selection is a rare "Wide boy" nicknamed for the wide dial markers. It is in excellent condition with a beautiful dial with nicely aged luminous dots. The Oyster Perpetual Datejust in steel or in steel with white gold bezel ranks among the greatest classics.
